Marimed’s 4-week Maritime Careers Exploration program offers Native Hawaiian women and men hands-on training and experience to jump start a career in a field with hundreds of jobs on the sea or ashore.
Space is limited to 14 participants!
Maritime Careers Exploration is a Native Hawaiian Career and Technical Training Program sponsored by Alu Like, Inc. and funded in part through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
Classes are FREE for Native Hawaiians.
Paid internships may be available.
Job placement assistance is offered to graduates.
This course is great for women and men who are:
– first time workers
– unemployed or underemployed and looking for a new career/better pay
– seeking a job on the ocean or outdoors
– considering a maritime focus for community college or university studies
– looking at Coast Guard, NOAA, military or merchant marine options in the future
Classes are held at our Kāne`ohe campus and aboard our sailing school vessel MAKANI OLU. Field trips to maritime work sites are included. The final class activity is a week-long interisland sail training voyage.
